Does anyone have any golf tips for ball contact with an iron?

I tend to release the club too early to avoid topping the ball, can anyone suggest a good tip to enable a clean strike trapping the ball between clubhead and turf, I am aware of weight shift and hands ahead of the ball but the problem persists.

Play the ball slightly forward of your stance as opposed to mid-stance…

are there any left-handed golf instruction books/videos out there?

I just started playing golf about two years ago, and i love it…however, just about ALL of the instruction books and videos and magazines cater to the right handed golfer. so, when I read those, I have to "translate" the wording based on the fact that I’m a lefty. any help would be appreciated.

im a left handed golfer as well, but i have always been stuck with translating…actually, when i was younger, i played a whole year right handed, haha that didn’t work. but my instructor videotapes me and has a software which takes different pros swings and makes them left-handed (tiger woods for example or lorena ochoa) so i see right handed pros swinging left-handed, lol! its just a mirror function thing, so if u can google it and possibly find the software, im sure it will help ur game tremendously, hope i helped!

What should the wrist hinge feel like in the golf swing?

I just began golfing and find that many of the instructional aids don’t discuss what the hands should be doing during the golf swing. My question is should I hinge my wrist towards my forearm or should they hinge towards the sky? Thanks for any help.

You have to sign up for the forum, its free (the forum has pictures too). But I can summarize. Alot of people hear that at address you should raise your hands and then bend your wrists straight up. This is WRONG!

Try this:

Put the club out in front of you parallel to the ground, toe of the club to the sky. Bend your wrists so that the club swings backwards, but stays parallel to the ground with the toe still facing up to the sky. THIS is the correct wrist hinge you should be after.

Took me years to find this out and once I did – I went from a 15 handicap to a 6.

How do I become a certified PGA golf professional and what is a good site for golf jobs?

I played college golf and worked at the King & Bear of World Golf Village and took the P.A.T. once and passed it very easily. I keep thinking I should become a PGA Professional because that is all I like besides sex, LOL. The thing that keeps me from pursuing it is that the pay is awful. I know these are a bunch of questions, but any suggestions from a golf pro would be helpful. Thanks!

I worked at a very exclusive Country Club for many years but not as a pro, I worked in outside services. I worked with a lot of pros though. The hours are extremely long, we were open 6 days a week and the Head Pro and the two top teaching professionals there worked 6 days a week. The other pros basically worked the exact same job I did which was outside dealing with the members, setting up tournaments and making sure everything was running smoothly. Those guys were not paid that well and usually worked 5 days a week, sometimes 6 on salary so over 40 hours didn’t pay any extra. The Head Pro was very well paid and the two teaching professionals did well but were obligated to give some of their lesson rate back to the club. Anyway if you are interested here is basically what you have to do :

Step 1
Work in one of the positions designated by the PGA as meeting the Eligible Employment requirement. This requirement must be met in order to register for the PGA/PGM program. The PGA has a classification of acceptable positions. An applicant must have worked a 6-month period out of the 12 months prior to application.

Step 2
Pass the 36-hole Playing Ability Test (PAT). There is a rather complicated formula that determines the exact scores that must be equaled or bettered, but a generally, an applicant must play 36 holes 15 strokes over par or better.

Step 3
Complete an apprentice registration form. This verifies employment and documents that an applicant has reviewed the details of the Professional Readiness Orientation (PRO). At this time an applicant also pays an apprentice fee for the national and sectional PGA. An applicant then earns the title of PGA apprentice.

Step 4
Work a three-year period as a PGA apprentice in a position that is sanctioned by the PGA. During this three-year period, an applicant must also pass checkpoints for three different levels. These checkpoints are a demonstration of proficiency in golf instruction and principles of business and management

OK here are some tips: make certain there are no extremes in your set up to do this your feet shoulders and hips hould be aligned or very close this influences your swing about 80%.

Always make sure you weight is even on both feet this will ensure no slumping of the shoulders that will throw off your swing my a large degree.

Keep your grip firm yet relaxed to promote a full release of the club almost as if you were going to throw the club down the fairway.

Stand up tall and relaxed bend over slightly and slightly bend your knees this should allow your swing to be upright and not flat but be carefu lnot to stand up to tall or you will get to steep.

Always commit to your shot 60% of all bad shot are because of being tenitive go for it and follow through.

My number one tip is to stay centered on all shots the goal in golf is to return the club to the ball the same way you set up to it, be a golfing machine stay cenetered turn back and finish facing your target easy.
